Rental Agreement (For Renters)

 
By renting a gown through Own This Outfit (“OTO”), you agree to the following:
 
The gown remains the property of its original owner at all times.
 
You are responsible for the gown from the time it is delivered until it is returned using OTO’s provided return instructions.
 
The gown may only be worn for its intended event and may not be altered, tailored, or modified in any way.
 
Any stains, tears, missing items, or excessive wear beyond normal use may result in additional charges.
 
Late returns may incur fees and may impact future rental eligibility.
 
Fit is not guaranteed. Renters are responsible for reviewing size and fit details prior to booking.
 
OTO reserves the right to assess damage and recover costs if necessary.
 
 Owner Agreement (For Gown Owners)
 
By submitting a gown to Own This Outfit, you agree to the following:
 
You confirm that you are the legal owner of the gown and have the right to rent it.
 
All gowns must be approved prior to listing.
 
OTO reserves the right to accept, reject, or remove gowns at its discretion.
 
Rental pricing is set based on market demand, seasonality, and gown condition. OTO reserves the right to adjust pricing.
 
Owners earn 75% of the rental price.
 
OTO retains 25% for platform operations and handling.
 
Owners accept that light wear may occur through rentals.
 
Earnings are paid after the gown is successfully returned and inspected.
 
 Gown Approval Guidelines
 
To ensure quality and consistency, all gowns must meet the following criteria:
 
Clear photos must be submitted for approval:
 
Worn photos (neck down only)
 
Clean, neutral background
 
Front, back, and both side views
 
No face photos are required.
 
Gowns must be formal, wedding, or luxury eveningwear.
 
Casual, informal, or basic dresses will not be approved.
 
Final approval occurs after physical inspection upon arrival.
 
 Shipping Policy
 
Renters pay shipping to receive the gown.
 
OTO covers return shipping after the rental.
 
Owners ship gowns to OTO only after approval.
 
Shipping timelines are communicated prior to rental confirmation.
 
 Taxes
 
Applicable sales or rental taxes are calculated based on the renter’s state.
 
Taxes are added at checkout.
 
OTO handles tax collection and remittance as required by law.
 
Gown owner payouts are issued after applicable taxes are processed.
 
 Damage Policy
 
Normal wear is expected and does not result in charges.
 
Damage includes:
 
Rips, tears, burns
 
Permanent stains
 
Missing components (belts, straps, embellishments)
 
OTO will assess damage and determine responsibility.
 
Renters may be charged for repair or replacement if damage exceeds normal wear.
 
 Condition & Quality Control
 
Every gown is reviewed and approved prior to listing.
 
Gowns are inspected before and after each rental.
 
Minor imperfections may exist and do not qualify for refunds.
 
OTO maintains the right to remove gowns that no longer meet quality standards.
 
 Rental Period & Returns
 
Each rental includes a designated wear period.
 
Late returns may result in additional fees.
 
Failure to return a gown may result in full replacement charges.
 
 Notifications & Communication
 
Owners receive email or text notifications when:
 
Their gown is requested
 
Their gown is rented
 
Their gown is returned
 
Earnings are posted
 
Renters receive confirmations for:
 
Orders
 
Shipping
 
Returns
 
 Pricing Flexibility Clause
 
OTO reserves the right to:
 
Adjust rental pricing
 
Offer promotions
 
Feature or de-feature gowns
based on demand, availability, and condition.
 
 Account Termination & Removal Rights
 
OTO may suspend or terminate accounts that violate policies.
 
Gowns may be removed from the platform at OTO’s discretion.
 
Abuse, fraud, or misuse of the platform will not be tolerated.
 
 Celebrity Gowns & Charity Policy
 
Celebrity gowns are subject to the same approval standards.
 
Proceeds may be allocated to a designated charity.
 
Charity allocations are disclosed on each listing.
 
OTO handles processing and reporting for transparency.
